Fine Art - Chateau d'Orquevaux
I was accepted to an artist residency at Chateau d'Orquevaux in France during the summer of 2025. This magnificent estate in the French countryside of Champagne-Ardenne offers artists a place with limited distraction and an abundance of natural inspiration. The Chateau d'Orquevaux Artist Residency emphasizes the human experience and the creative process. The residency creates an environment for the artist in their quest for personal growth and artistic expression--while reinforcing that the end product is not necessarily the principal focus. We believe life is a creative journey and consider every moment a part of the process.
My goal in pursuing this residency was simply to see new, unfamiliar sights from which to draw inspiration. Much of my artwork is rooted in a sense of place- traveling around France before and during my residency allowed me to experience unfamiliar and interesting places, flora and fauna, and architecture. I especially wanted to focus on scenes of architecture to broaden my skills, and explore the most iconic sights of France in my work.
